Ancient wisdom, clinical precision
Acupuncture
Restore balance and relieve pain through targeted needle therapy grounded in 3,000 years of traditional medicine.

About This Treatment
Acupuncture is a time-honored healing practice that involves the precise insertion of ultra-thin needles at specific points along the body's meridian pathways. Our licensed practitioners use evidence-based protocols to address root causes, not just symptoms — restoring the body's natural flow of energy and promoting deep healing.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is acupuncture painful?
- The needles used in acupuncture are hair-thin filaments, not injection needles. Most patients feel a mild sensation of warmth, achiness, or tingling at the needle site, which acupuncturists call "de qi" -- a sign that the point is active. Many patients fall asleep during treatment.
- How many acupuncture sessions will I need?
- Acute problems often respond in 3-6 sessions. Chronic conditions that have been present for months or years typically require 8-12 sessions before plateauing. Your practitioner reassesses your progress at each visit and adjusts the plan accordingly.
- Is acupuncture safe?
- Acupuncture is very safe when performed by a licensed acupuncturist using sterile, single-use needles. California requires L.Ac. licensure, which involves approximately 3,000 hours of graduate training. Serious adverse events are extremely rare in the published literature.
- Does insurance cover acupuncture at your clinic?
- Most major commercial plans in California include an acupuncture benefit. Aetna, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare all cover acupuncture under most group plans, typically 10-30 visits per year. We verify your benefits before your first appointment at no charge.
